About Hardwood Halifax

What we do

Hardwood Halifax refinishes existing hardwood floors for homeowners across Halifax Regional Municipality. If your floors are dull, scratched, stained or damaged, we bring them back: a light recoat when that is all they need, a full sand-back when the wood itself is worn, plus staining, board repair and water-damage work. The floors we see most are the maple and oak that fill older houses on the peninsula and in Dartmouth.

How we work

We start with a free in-home look. We tell you plainly whether your floors need a recoat or a full refinish, because those are very different jobs and only one of them is right for your floor. Then we give you an honest number and a plan. You keep the written quote and decide on your own time.

What to expect

A written quote that lists the number of coats, the finish product, and exactly what is and is not included. We manage dust with vacuum extraction and we time coats and cure days around the humidity, because a coastal summer and a heated winter are very different conditions to finish a floor in. We are straight with you about what can be saved and what has to be replaced.

What we do not do

We do not touch carpet, tile, vinyl or laminate, and we do not install new floors. Refinishing existing hardwood is the whole job, which is why we are worth asking about the awkward cases: a floor that has already been sanded twice, a thin engineered veneer that cannot take a sander at all, or boards that cupped after a leak. Those are the questions we would rather answer before you spend anything.
